Terms of Reference

  1. To raise the quality of teaching and learning across the school and as a result increase standards and attainment.


  2. To ensure appropriate and challenging progress for all children.


  3. To ensure the school follows the National and School curriculum; that academic and attendance standards are met and improved; that target setting, mentoring, monitoring and evaluation takes place; that policies pertaining to the above are developed and reviewed and that the special educational needs of all children are met..


  4. The committee will do this by continually monitoring the strategic school improvement plan (SIP) and by analysing and benchmarking internal and external data.


  5. The committee will also undertake ad hoc tasks related to teaching, learning and standards in the school and as appropriate across the wider Calton community.


  6. It is the responsibility of all Governors to attend courses relevant to their role on the committee.
