Rounders at Ribston

22nd May 2018

KS2 Rounders Tournament at Ribston

On the 22nd May, 10 children from Years 5 and 6 were invited to a rounders tournament at Ribston High School. They had never been in a team together before - but they gelled and worked together from the start of the day - well done!
We went there as new players of the game, but came away as confident rounders players! We were in a pool of 7 other schools and played 6 matches.
The first match was against Parton Manor and we were beaten by only a single rounder!
Our second match was against St. Pauls - who were also new to the game. We then played Coney Hill, who were very competitive and had very good tactics.
Next we played against Grange and we won with a score of 4 rounders to half a rounder! We were so happy. As the matches went on, we gained confidence in leaps and bounds, which helped us compete against the two toughest teams: Hempsted and Robinswood. Both had won nearly all their matches! First was Hempsted, who were very good at batting and very quick runners! The final match was against Robinswood. They were a very strong team, and ended up coming second in the whole competition!
The team tried their absolute best and should be very proud.
